Closures Patents (Class 215/200)
  • Patent number: 7285315
Abstract: The present invention relates to a closure which is made of synthetic material with characteristics similar to or even better than those of cork and which can therefore be used in all applications in which a cork closure is normally used. In particular, the closure according to the present invention is a stopper for containers for wine or liquors. In particular, the present invention relates to a container closure made of an expanded elastomer by means of a thermal moulding method, characterized in that the expanded elastomer can be produced by means of a step of expansion by a supercritical fluid.

Abstract: A cap is attachable to a receptacle for co-acting therewithin enclosing medication and timing a predetermined interval for taking the medication defined by one timing schedule of a set of selectable timing schedules. An electronic timing circuit in the cap is constructed and arranged to provide an alarm signal designating a time for taking the medication at the expiration of a predetermined time interval defined by the timing schedule. A battery furnishes power to the electronic timing circuit. A switch is connected between the battery and the electronic timing circuit having an initial ship position preventing the flow of electrical energy from the battery to the electronic timing circuit and an on position allowing delivery of electrical power from the battery to the electronic timing circuit. The switch is constructed and arranged to be initially in the ship position and switch to the on position when the cap is first attached to the receptacle to close the receptacle.

  • Patent number: 6831552
Abstract: A vocal container cap includes a cap portion and a vocal assembly received in the cap portion. When the cap portion is fully closed onto a container mouth, an elastic switch associated with a movable member of the vocal assembly is pressed against a contact on a circuit board supported on a fixed member of the vocal assembly to disable the vocal container cap. And when the cap portion is twisted to loosen from the container mouth, a spring lifts the movable member to separate the elastic switch from the contact and thereby actuates the vocal container cap to sound or voice.

Abstract: The present invention provides for an adapter configured to interface with a syringe and a container. The adapter has at least one aperture passing therethrough to allow fluid to pass between the syringe and the container, and engages the container so as to accurately position a fluid dispersal point of the adapter within the container. The adapter may be configured to cooperatively engage a structure protruding from the container. In some embodiments of the present invention, a fluid dispersion end of the adapter may also act to provide a level indicator to allow the operator to more easily detect when the fluid level has reached the appropriate height within the container. Other embodiments of the present invention also provide protection to the operator to help prevent the operator from accidentally sticking himself with a needle connected with a syringe while using the adapter.

  • Patent number: 6666879
Abstract: An apparatus, device, or inlet port plug, may close an inlet port that is formed in a sheet of flexible material. The inlet port is adapted for mounting on an inflatable device and is shaped and constructed to receive and retain an air hose nozzle through which air flows to inflate the inflatable device. The inlet port plug blocks the inlet port when no air hose nozzle is engaged. Consequently, air cannot easily pass out of the inflatable device through the inlet port when the device is inflated or being inflated. The inlet port plug has a generally planar shape with coplanar extensions extending radially from a plug body. The inlet port plug may be engaged with an inlet port by causing at least two of the extensions to be received in the inlet port. When the extensions are received, the plug is retained against the inlet port.

  • Patent number: 6451261
Abstract: The present invention provides multi-well plates and column arrays in which samples (e.g., cell lysates containing nucleic acids of interest, such as RNA) can be analyzed and/or processed. In one embodiment, the microfiltration arrangement is a multilayer structure, including (i) a column plate having an array of minicolumns into which samples can be placed, (ii) a discrete filter element disposed in each minicolumn, (iii) a drip-director plate having a corresponding array of drip directors through which filtrate may egress, and (iv) a receiving-well plate having a corresponding array of receiving wells into which filtrate can flow. The invention provides multi-well microfiltration arrangements that are relatively simple to manufacture and that overcome many of the problems associated with the prior arrangements relating to (i) cross-contamination due to wicking across a common filter sheet or (ii) individual filter elements entrapping sample constituents within substantial dead volumes.
