  • Publication number: 20100018740
Abstract: A method and apparatus for adding wires, cables, fibers or the like from an accessible part of a structure, such as an attic or crawlspace to an interior room from within the walls of the structure, by installing an attachment section, tubing and penetration sleeves during the construction of the structure. The tubing is made from a compressible insulated material to prevent heated or cooled air from escaping prior to or after the installation of wires, cables, fibers or the like. The attachment section is secured to an interior support in the accessible area with the tubing attached to the attachment section. The tubing is compressed to prevent heated or cooled air loss through the tubing. The tubing extends to an access point, typically behind an interior wall. Structural supports such as plates and subfloors are penetrated using hollow rigid sleeves which when mated with the tubing, creates a continuous hollow passageway for the wires, cables, fibers or the like.

Abstract: A fire resistant composition comprising: a silicone polymer; mica in an amount of from 5% to 30% by weight based on the total weight of the composition; and a limited amount of glass additive sufficient to enable the formation of a self supporting ceramic material at temperatures above the decomposition temperature of the silicone polymer and below the fire rating temperature of the composition. The glass additive addition required to produce the self supporting ceramic material has been found to be preferably from 0.3% to 8% by weight based on the total weight of the composition. The composition is applicable to products formed for fire wall linings, fire partitions, screens, ceilings or linings, structural fire protection, fire door inserts, window or door seals, intumescent seals, in electrical switchboard cabinets or cables. In one cable application, the composition may be used as the extruded intermediate material (2) between the conductor (3) and extruded sheath (4).

Located between the bottom layer and the top layer, the middle layer may transmit desired signals through the flexible cable. The material selection and specifics of each of the layers should be selected so as to achieve a balance in which the desired electrical impedance and mechanical flexibility requirements are met. The cable may also include one or more vias connecting the bottom layer to the top layer, providing shielding all the way around the flex cable. An additional conductive sock may be used to improve shielding effectiveness of the top and bottom layer and to connect to I/O connector shells and the system Faraday cage.

Abstract: The object of the invention is to provide a power supply device capable of reducing the protector size, which includes a protector for receiving a wiring harness and extending the floating wiring harness through an elongated opening therein, a harness winding section free to bend the wiring harness to regulate a minimum radius of curvature of the wiring harness while holding its freedom of movement within the protector, and an elastic member for energizing the harness winding section to lead the wiring harness into the protector. In this power supply device, the harness winding section can be moved in one direction against the energized elastic member in an end area of the elongated opening, and the harness winding section energized by the elastic member can be moved in the other direction in the center area of the elongated opening. Further, the elastic member can be received inside the harness winding section.

Abstract: Raceway modules of predetermined length are joined by couplers designed to allow optional gaps between the T-shaped raceway base plate portions. Upper and lower L-shaped raceway covers are separately snapped out the base, allowing electrical and data/communication devices to be provided in staggered relationship, and anywhere along the raceway. The lower L-shaped raceway cover configuration allows outlet devices to be provided in the lower side of the raceway. The T-shaped base plate has pre-punched knock-out openings and mounting holes provided in a predetermined pattern, and pre-punched lines of weakening, that simplify the installation process. The couplers come in several lengths and configurations, to bridge crossing raceway or other obstructions, and to provide continuity in the gaps between the raceway modules. Pre-wired cover components are fitted with spaced outlet devices for installation in areas of a room that require such service.
