Abstract: A linear light module that uses a thermally conductive housing for dissipating heat generated by a lighting source within the housing is described. Light is thermally coupled away from the lighting source via a thermally conductive heating block. The heating block is thermally coupled to a thermally conductive heat pipe that runs along the length of the housing, where the length of the housing is substantially the same length as the linear light module. The housing is extruded to include a channel that runs the length of the housing for holding the heat pipe. Because the housing is long, the heat is easily conducted from the housing.

Abstract: A method for fabricating an exhaust gas decontamination reactor, which is an exhaust gas decontamination pipe or a exhaust gas decontamination honeycombed structure, comprises steps: respectively coating a cathode layer and an anode layer on an outer wall surface and an inner wall surface of a pipe; and forming an enclosed reducing environment inside an internal channel of the pipe. The method for fabricating an exhaust gas decontamination honeycombed structure comprises steps: respectively coating cathode layers and anode layers on first inner wall surfaces of first passages and second inner wall surfaces of second passages; and forming enclosed reducing environments inside the second passages. Then, the cathode layers function as reaction sites to decontaminate exhaust gas. The present invention needn't arrange a reducing-gas system in the reactor and thus can decrease the volume and fabrication cost thereof.

Abstract: Displays having a plurality of shutter assemblies with movable shutters. Typically, the shutter assemblies are arranged in a grid of rows and columns, and the grid has a horizontal axis aligned with a horizontal axis of the display. The shutter assembly is aligned within the grid to have the axis of motion of respective shutters extend at an angle relative to the horizontal axis of the grid. In certain implementations, the shutter assemblies have a rectangular peripheral edge, and are arranged in the grid to have the square peripheral edge disposed at an angle relative to the horizontal axis of the grid. This can arrange the shutter assemblies into a diamond layout within the grid and place the shutter assemblies of adjacent columns into spatially offset rows of the grid. In some implementations, this increases the pixels per inch of the display, in other implementations, increases the aperture ratio.

Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods and apparatus for providing multiple dielectric coatings for a shutter assembly. The multiple dielectric coatings include an outer dielectric coating and one or more inner dielectric coatings. The outer dielectric coating has an electrical trap density that is lower than electrical trap densities of the one or more inner dielectric coatings. The lower electrical trap density reduces the amount of charge buildup over various surfaces of the shutter assembly. This reduction in charge buildup also reduces electrostatic forces that may cause incorrect operation of the shutter assembly.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to devices and methods for implanting a prosthesis into a heart of a mammal, such as a person. The disclosure includes a prosthesis that acts as a pressure vent between the left and right atria of the heart. The disclosure also includes a mounting tool for mounting the prosthesis onto a loading tool, the loading tool useful for loading the prosthesis onto a device for delivering the prosthesis into the patient's heart. Control devices and methods for using these devices are also disclosed. The intracardiac pressure vents disclosed allow sufficient flow from the left atrium to the right atrium to relieve elevated left atrial pressure and resulting patient symptoms. The devices also limit the amount of flow from the right atrium to the left atrium to minimize the potential for thrombi or other embolic material from entering arterial circulation.

  • Patent number: 8739396
Abstract: Several embodiments of a novel technique for limiting transmission of fault current are disclosed. Current power distribution systems typically have an impedance, or reactor, on the output of the network equipment to limit current in the case of a fault condition. A low resistance switch, which changes its resistance in the presence of high current, is connected in parallel with this reactor. Thus, in normal operation, the current from the power generator bypasses the reactor, thereby minimizing power loss. However, in the presence of a fault, the resistance of the switch increases, forcing the current to pass through the reactor, thereby limiting the fault current.
