  • Publication number: 20030129355
Abstract: A plastic film screen protector that prevents interference patterns from arising when the film touches the screen is described. The advantages are accomplished by the film having a slightly roughened surface so that the majority of the film facing an electronic device screen does not substantially touch the screen. These physical aberrations prevent Newton ring interference patterns and spots caused by refractive index differences between air and the film material.

At the aft portion of the index divider are two lateral tabs which project outward and are retained in a vertical groove along the right and left sides of the box. The lateral tabs prevent the index dividers from sliding forward and allow the index dividers to ride up or down in the vertival slots as the stack of sandpaper sheets changes. The lateral tabs function as a unique lifting mechanism to permit the index divider to be raised enough to provide ample clearance to easily insert or remove a sheet of sandpaper. When the index divider is lowered into place it compresses all sandpaper sheets below it to keep the sandpaper sheets from curling.

Abstract: Disclosed are fast blooming surfactants that are suitable for inclusion in film compositions that will subsequently treated with a low surface energy material to create a surface energy gradient between the underlying polymeric structure of the film and spaced apart microscopic depositions of the low surface energy material. The surfactants have a permeation rate of less than 240 hours, a surface tension in an aqueous solution at a concentration that is greater than the critical micelle concentration that lies between the critical surface tension of the underlying polymeric structure of the web material and the critical surface tension of the low surface energy depositions; and an HLB between about 6 and about 16. Preferred surfactants also have a weight loss on heating to 250° C. that is less than about 20%. More preferred surfactants have a hydrophobic chain that is substantially saturated.

Abstract: It is an object to provide a method for manufacturing a three dimensional structure employing the principle of braid composition to compose a three dimensional X confounding section (a 3X confounding structure, a 4X confounding structure, a 6X-3X confounding structure) and a manufacturing apparatus for a three dimensional structure which is applicable to the method. A method for manufacturing a three dimensional structure with a linear structure 1 pulled out individually from a plurality of bobbin carriers 2, comprising the steps of: supporting said plurality of bobbin carriers transferably and loadably; and moving the bobbin carrier so that linear structures from at least three directions are joined to converge at intervals in a composing direction and diverge in at least three directions.

Abstract: A hollow composite body includes an internal layer formed from a thermoplastic, which constitutes the liner of the body, a composite interlayer formed from a thermoplastic in which reinforcing fibers are embedded, and an external layer formed from a thermoplastic. The hollow composite body is made by furnishing the external surface of the liner with a composite so as to constitute a preform, the composite consisting of a thermoplastic mixed with reinforcing fibers; introducing the preform into a mold, an inflatable bladder having been inserted into the preform; heating the preform and inflating the inside of the bladder in order to apply pressure against the internal wall of the preform.

Abstract: A laser beam is radiated from a laser source. The laser beam radiated from the laser source is converged at a converging point inside of a work member to form cracks at the converging point and in its nearby area, by making a cross section of the laser beam at the converging point have a shape long in a first direction perpendicular to an optical axis of the laser beam. Markers easy to increase contrast can be formed in the work member.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to an article of footwear and method for making the same, where the article of footwear has a minimal number of upper pieces. The method of the present invention is directed to a process for manufacturing an article of footwear having a single or multiple layer upper. Each layer of the upper according to the present invention is constructed of a one-piece upper material. At least the outer layer of the upper is molded utilizing an embossing tool according to the present invention, such that the desired appearance of the upper is embossed on the outer layer. Additionally, the improved shoe manufacturing process of the present invention may further comprise the step of decorating at least the outer layer of the upper, by screen printing, sublimation, large format ink jet printing, cold and hot peel transfers, fabric dyeing and/or multi-layered digital printing, allowing for multiple or different colorways to be created using a single base color upper material.

  • Patent number: 6296920
Abstract: The invention relates to a reversible thermotropic plastics molding compound. Thermotropic molding compounds of this kind are used, amongst other things, for glass and coverings for shading and light/heat regulation in houses, cars, etc. The molding compound according to the invention consists of two compounds which are not thermodynamically miscible with one another. The first component consists of a plastics material, while the second component is not liquid-crystalline and has a refractive index which is the same as the first component in the transparent range and the temperature dependency of which is different from the temperature dependency of the refractive index of the first component. On raising the temperature, the transmission of the molding compound is thus altered.
