The second node has a codebook comprising a set of possible information alternatives for assisting the adaptation of a signal received from the first node. The second node may select an information alternative from the codebook and send it to the first node to assist the first node in adapting the signal. The first node is configured with a number of subsets, each comprising a part of the possible information alternatives. The first node requests that the second node restrict the selection of information alternatives to one of the subsets, and in response, receives an information alternative from the second node that is selected from among the subsets configured according to the configuration request.

    Abstract: A system, method, and apparatus to facilitate the synchronization of oscillators between members of a Heterogeneous Network (HetNet) to form a self-synchronizing network (SSN). The network members are configured to broadcast information indicative of the reliability of their oscillator. Network members attempt to look for reliable sources such as those originating from a macrocell base station or GPS. If such a source is found, the member cell updates it clock accuracy confidence level number (CACL) to indicate this. Network members also share information regarding the frequency offsets between one another. Every cell member then applies a weighted average function to determine how to update its own oscillator and CACL value accordingly. Cell members can also update their functionality, such as RF power level, in response to varying degrees of CACL values. This operation results in a convergence of all cell members to the most accurate oscillator offset value.

A messaging service firewall (MSF) separate from a short message service center (SMSC) receives a mobility management reply message (MMR) that is sent by a mobile location register element in response to an associated mobility management query (MMQ) and that includes a serving switch identifier. The MSF allocates a global title address (GTA) from a pool of GTAs and stores a correlation between the allocated GTA and the originating SMSC. The MSF replaces the serving switch identifier in the MMR with the allocated GTA and routes the modified MMR. The MSF then receives a messaging service message (MSM) that is addressed to the allocated GTA and that includes the purported originating SMSC. If the purported originating SMSC does not match the SMSC to which the GTA is correlated, the MSM is discarded.
