Abstract: A controller inclines a movable body with respect to an XY plane at an angle ? in a periodic direction of a grating, based on a measurement value of an interferometer which measures an angle of inclination of the movable body to the XY plane, and based on a measurement value of an encoder system and information of angle ? before and after inclination, and computes an Abbe offset quantity of the grating surface with respect to a reference surface which serves as a reference for position control of the movable body in the XY plane. The controller drives the movable body, based on positional information of the movable body in the XY plane measured by the encoder system and a measurement error of the encoder system corresponding to an angle of inclination of the movable body to the XY plane due to Abbe offset quantity of the grating surface.

Abstract: Circuit boards and methods for their manufacture are disclosed. The circuit boards carry high-speed signals using conductors formed to include lengthwise channels. The channels increase the surface area of the conductors, and therefore enhance the ability of the conductors to carry high-speed signals. In at least some embodiments, a discontinuity also exists between the dielectric constant within the channels and just outside the channels, which is believed to reduce signal loss into the dielectric material.

Abstract: An insulated composite power cable having a wire core defining a common longitudinal axis, a multiplicity of composite wires around the wire core, and an insulative sheath surrounding the composite wires. In some embodiments, a first multiplicity of composite wires is helically stranded around the wire core in a first lay direction at a first lay angle defined relative to a center longitudinal axis over a first lay length, and a second multiplicity of composite wires is helically stranded around the first multiplicity of composite wires in the first lay direction at a second lay angle over a second lay length, the relative difference between the first lay angle and the second lay angle being no greater than about 4°. The insulated composite cables may be used for underground or underwater electrical power transmission. Methods of making and using the insulated composite cables are also described.

Abstract: This disclosure provides connectors for smart windows. A smart window may incorporate an optically switchable pane. In one aspect, a window unit includes an insulated glass unit including an optically switchable pane. A wire assembly may be attached to the edge of the insulated glass unit and may include wires in electrical communication with electrodes of the optically switchable pane. A floating connector may be attached to a distal end of the wire assembly. The floating connector may include a flange and a nose, with two holes in the flange for affixing the floating connector to a first frame. The nose may include a terminal face that present two exposed contacts of opposite polarity. Pre-wired spacers improve fabrication efficiency and seal integrity of insulated glass units. Electrical connection systems include those embedded in the secondary seal of the insulated glass unit.

Abstract: A method for insulating an aluminum backboard of a photovoltaic module comprises the following steps: shearing the aluminum backboard such that the dimensions of the aluminum backboard are 4-5 mm smaller those of the glass; forming a square aperture at the position of the electrode lead of the aluminum backboard; insulating the square aperture by cushioning a small insulating material or wrapping the edges with an insulation film when arraying and laying the modules; laminating and trimming the superimposed module components; wrapping the trimmed laminated piece around the edge with the 0.5-1 mm insulation tape; finally, framing up the laminated piece by using a frame filled with silica gel, and installing the terminal box. The invention is convenient to operate and low in investment and has a wide application prospect.
Abstract: Optical stacks containing one or more patterned transparent conductor layers may be damaged by electrostatic discharges that occur during the optical stack manufacturing process. Such damage may result in non-conductive conductors within the patterned transparent conductor layer. An electrostatic discharge protected optical stack may include a substrate layer, a first anti-static layer having a sheet resistance of from about 106 ohms per square (?/sq) to about 109 ?/sq, and a patterned transparent conductor layer. Methods of testing and assessing damage to patterned transparent conductors are provided.
Abstract: An electroactive optical device, in particular an electroactive lens, comprising an optical element (1) as well as an electroactive element (2) is described. The optical element (1) is an elastic solid, such as a gel or a polymer. The metal substrate structure is formed by sandwiching a block layer with two metal substrate layers, multilayer. Therefore, the method of the present invention can be widely applied to the general mass production processes to effectively solve the problems in the prior arts due to depth differences, such offset, position mismatch and peeling off in the chip support board.

The chamber provides a reservoir from which a sample fluid can be drawn into the chamber through capillary action. The sampling entrance provided can draw fluid into the chamber through any part of the opening, allowing easy targeting the samples with small volume, picking up smeared samples, and added tolerance to users who jam the tip of the sensor into users' finger. The sampling entrance also serves as air escape vent. Such one opening sensor alleviates over-flow issue often encountered in convenient sensors.

Abstract: A nozzle placement history data management method is accomplished by an electronic component mounting apparatus having an adsorption nozzle detachably placed on a mount head. The presence or absence of the adsorption nozzle is detected by a flow rate sensor. A board recognition camera provides identification information of the nozzle with the result that the nozzle placement history data can be updated, managed and updated.
Abstract: A process for installing electrical box, wiring, and receptacles or switch simultaneously that allows electricians to perform all 3 tasks at one time without the need to return to install receptacles or switch after wallboard is installed comprises: Housing with built-in laser guide and attached magnetic spacers for metal studs or wooden studs that allow for correct alignment of receptacle or switch for applicable wallboard thickness used.
Abstract: In one implementation, flash memory chips are provided with an operating power supply voltage to substantially match a power supply voltage expected at an edge connector of a dual inline memory module. The one or more of the flash memory chips and a memory support application integrated circuit (ASIC) may be mounted together into a multi-chip package for integrated circuits. The one or more flash memory chips and the memory support ASIC may be electrically coupled together by routing one or more conductors between each in the multi-chip package. The multi-chip package may be mounted onto a printed circuit board (PCB) of a flash memory DIMM to reduce the number of packages mounted thereto and reduce the height of the flash memory DIMM. The number of printed circuit board layers may also be reduced, such as by integrating address functions into the memory support ASIC.

Abstract: There is provided a power module production method that is capable of stably producing a power module with highly reliable properties, and so forth. The power module production method produces a power module 1 by stacking a cooler 5, an insulating resin sheet 4, a heat sink block 3, and a semiconductor chip 2, wherein a first insulating resin sheet 41, which forms a lower layer of the insulating resin sheet 4, is first bonded to the cooler 5 by thermal compression. Next, with a second insulating resin sheet 42, which forms an upper layer of the insulating resin sheet 4, interposed between the first insulating resin sheet 41 and the heat sink block 3, the second insulating resin sheet 42 is bonded to the first insulating resin sheet 41 by thermal compression, and the heat sink block 3 is bonded to the second insulating resin sheet 42 by thermal compression. The semiconductor chip 2 is then soldered onto the heat sink block 3.
