Abstract: A light output apparatus includes a plurality of light source sections (first light source section and second light source section) each of which outputs light along a predetermined flat surface to form a light layer along the predetermined flat surface, a frame to which the plurality of light source sections are attached, a single heat dissipation member connected to the plurality of light source sections in a heat conductive manner. The configuration allows an increase in heat dissipation area of the heat dissipation member as compared with a case where each of the light source sections is separately provided with a heat dissipation member.
Abstract: A propulsion system includes an electric drive, a first energy storage system electrically coupled to the electric drive through a DC link, and a second energy storage system electrically coupled to the first energy storage system in a series connection. The first energy storage system comprises a high specific-energy storage device and the second energy storage system comprises a low specific-power storage device. The propulsion system also includes a third energy storage system comprising a high specific-energy storage device electrically coupled to the second energy storage system. A bi-directional boost converter is electrically coupled to the second and third energy storage systems such that a terminal of the third energy storage system is electrically coupled to a low voltage side of the bi-directional boost converter and a terminal of the second energy storage system is coupled to a high voltage side of the bi-directional boost converter.

Abstract: A method for recording power consumption data of a residential unit, the residential unit having a distributor (4) with at least one load circuit (7), wherein at least one load (9) is arranged in each load circuit (7), wherein at least one load (9) can be individually actuated and wherein at least one load circuit (7) has means (6) for measuring the power consumed in the load circuit (7). The residential unit has a control unit (10), which actuates the load or loads (9) on the basis of predetermined or predeterminable scenes. The power consumption of the load circuits (7) is measured individually and recorded by the control unit (10) and the control unit (10) assigns the power consumption to the set scenes.
Abstract: A method is provided for fabricating a bending beam sensor coupled to a touch input device. The method includes providing a bending beam. The method also includes placing a first strain gauge and a second strain gauge on a surface of the beam near a first end of the beam, and aligning the first strain gauge and the second strain gauge with the beam along an axis. The first end is attached to a base. The method further includes coupling the first strain gauge and the second strain gauge to a plate of the touch input device and electrically connecting the first strain gauge and the second strain gauge such that a differential signal is obtained from the first strain gauge and the second strain gauge when a load is applied on the plate of the touch input device.

Abstract: A circuit includes a structure for inhibiting dendrite formation. The circuit includes a first electrode disposed within a first area of the circuit, wherein the first electrode is configured to be coupled to an ionic source that forms ions when a first electric potential is applied to the first electrode. The circuit also includes a second electrode disposed within a second area of the circuit. The second electrode is configured to receive a second electric potential that is less than the first electric potential and that causes the ions to migrate toward the second electrode to contribute to dendrite formation. The circuit further includes a structure disposed within a third area of the circuit. The structure is configured to receive a third electric potential to create a barrier that inhibits the migration of at least some of the ions from the first to the second electrode to inhibit dendrite formation.

Abstract: A reel-based curved boom that follows a predetermined arch or trajectory is disclosed. Such a disappearing controllable-arch sensor boom or crane can enable a sensor on the end of the boom to be extended from a vehicle over obstacles such as walls or low buildings. It can also be extended to view the underside of bridges, or of the vehicle itself. It can be used to view targets of interest that are not within the direct field of view of the vehicle or from directly above said vehicle.

Abstract: The various embodiments herein provide an energy efficient DC off-grid home system and a method for operating the same. The system generates, stores and delivers the solar energy to the connected equipments in a controlled and efficient manner. The system has several solar panels, a battery bank, a home control unit, several appliances and equipments which run on electric power and a remote terminal unit. The solar panels are used to capture maximum solar energy from the sun. The battery bank has several batteries arranged in series and parallel combinations to store maximum electrical energy. Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for manufacturing a module type microfluidic chip comprising: (a) printing electrode patterns on a substrate using a conductive ink and inkjet printing; (b) cutting the printed electrode patterns; and (c) assembling the cut electrode patterns to manufacture the module type microfluidic paper chip. Unlike the traditional method for manufacturing printed circuit substrate using a patterning agent or device, the method of the present invention only incorporates a simple printing process using an inkjet printer, and thus patterning can be simplified and various types of chips can be manufactured depending on the assembly type of electrode patterns. Accordingly, inexpensive, economical, and highly utilizable microfluidic chips can be provided using the method of the present invention.

Abstract: An electric assembly for electrically connecting at least one wind turbine being located off-shore with an electric subsea cable being connected to an on-shore power grid is provided. Abstract: Interconnect feed devices (10) are provided for electrically connecting first and second electrical components (17, 21). Abstract: A composite vehicle architecture without a current return network for reducing lightning threats. A plurality of modular equipment centers (MECs) are spatially distributed throughout the vehicle. Equipment loads within the vehicle are each serviced by the nearest MEC. Twisted and shielded electrical conductor pairs provide secondary power to the equipment loads to minimize the amount of wire throughout the aircraft as well as the return currents on the aircraft.

Abstract: Medical leads included coiled filars that have longitudinally straight ends. The coiled filars may be coiled at a constant pitch until reaching the point where the filars become longitudinally straight. The coiled filars may reside within a central lumen of the lead body, while the longitudinally straight portions may reside in a region where electrical connectors are present and where filar passageways provide a pathway for the filars to exit the central lumen and bond with the electrical connectors. The coiled filars may be created with longitudinally straight ends using a body that includes longitudinally straight holes that receive the filars and maintain the longitudinally straight configuration while the remaining portion of the filars is being coiled.

Abstract: The invention is directed to a system and method for lightning strike protection for oil well electric motors and cables, and in particular, an explosion-proof transient voltage surge suppressor that is mounted internally or attached externally to a packer penetrator directly on a wellhead. The transient voltage surge suppressor can be incorporated directly into the packer penetrator pipes along with the power wires. The transient voltage surge suppressor is housed within an explosion-proof box inside or attached to the packer penetrator.

Abstract: The characteristic impedance of a surface pad is manipulated by reticulating the pad and filling the spaces with a dielectric material, providing an inductive element in the coupling of the surface pad to an underlying ground pad of a ground plane, or a combination of these approaches. In appropriate embodiments, acceptable signal trace routing paths will exist in an embedded signal layer under the ground plane and crossing under the surface pad. Other embodiments are also described and claimed.

The cable assembly includes two cable ends and a housing that defines an internal volume. Cable fittings are connected to the cable ends through a first seal. A second seal is located in the annular space between the electrical cable and the cable fitting opening at the first cable end. The cable assembly includes a third seal and at least one deformable sealing component located at the second cable end. The seals are configured to prevent moisture, gas, and contaminants from passing through the cable fitting opening. Additionally, a method of sealing an electrical cable and a flexible conduit is provided.
Abstract: A display module holding frame and method of manufacturing same include the steps of: first, providing a support frame which includes an installation frame to hold a display module, two installation portions to hold two hinge structures, an installation space formed within the installation frame, a coupling space formed between the two installation portions and a wiring passage communicating with the installation space and the coupling space; next, threading a signal wire through the wiring passage; finally, forming a rubber protective layer on the surface of the support frame via an injection process. The rubber protective layer has a holding portion to fix the signal wire in the wiring passage. The display module holding frame thus formed provides a structure to securely hold the signal wire without moving freely.

Abstract: The various implementations described herein include systems, methods and/or devices used to manage heat flow for dissipating heat generated by electronic components in an electronic system (e.g., a memory system that includes closely spaced memory modules). In one embodiment, heat sinks are disposed on front sides of a first module and a second module in the electronic system, and at least one heat sink in the second module is disposed between at least two heat sinks in the first module. In some embodiments, the number of heat sinks and/or a subset of geometric parameters for the locations, sizes and shapes of the heat sinks are configured for the purpose of disturbing and mixing air flow that passes an air gap between the front sides of the first and second modules.

Abstract: A technique for tamper protection in an electronic device is disclosed. A conductive mesh is affixed onto one or more interior surfaces of the outer housing of the device. The mesh includes one or more conductive traces coupled to one or more detectors within the device. The detector can detect an open-circuit or short-circuit condition resulting from an unauthorized attempt to open the housing, and output a signal to trigger an appropriate countermeasure. The electrical contacts along the trace that are monitored can be selected differently from one manufactured unit to the next, and can be selected based on a randomness function. The selection of contacts may be made during or after manufacturing of the device. The mesh can include multiple metal traces that run very close together, in parallel, across one or more interior surfaces of the housing, allowing detection of both open-circuit and short-circuit conditions.

Abstract: According to one embodiment, a mounting plate for coupling a hazard detector with a wall or ceiling of a structure is provided. The mounting plate includes a plate that is positionable against the wall or ceiling to removably couple the hazard detector to the wall or ceiling. The mounting plate also includes a centrally located opening, a first set of apertures arranged around the centrally located opening, and a second set of apertures arranged around the centrally located opening. The first set of apertures are dimensioned and arranged according to a first attachment standard that defines a first distance range relative to an axis of the centrally located aperture and the second set of apertures are dimensioned and arranged according to a second attachment standard that defines a second distance range relative to the axis of the centrally located aperture.

Abstract: An assembly for measuring a temperature of a fluid flowing through a tubing section is provided. The assembly can include the tubing section that can include a reduced-width portion. The reduced-width portion can traverse a circumference of the tubing section. The assembly can also include a temperature measurement component in thermal communication with an inner diameter of the tubing section. A temperature of a fluid flowing through the tubing section can be detected using the temperature measurement component.

Abstract: Cord reels are disclosed, which are adapted to keep electrical cords organized within a reasonable area. According to one example, a cord reel can include a fixed housing with electrical prongs protruding from one end, and a rotational housing coupled to the fixed housing. The rotational housing may be adapted to hold an electrical cord. At least one electrical receptacle adapted to receive an appliance plug, such as a standard plug or a residual current device (RCD) plug, may be mounted to the rotational housing such that the appliance plug and an immediately adjacent appliance cord will rotate at least substantially within a limited cylindrical plane. Other aspects, embodiments, and features are also included.
Abstract: The exemplary embodiments of the present invention have a first refractive surface whose distance from a central axis gradually increasing as being distanced from a rear surface, and light from a light source can be effectively emitted from a first refractive surface to a lateral direction or an upper lateral direction.

Abstract: A display terminal, an apparatus for cover opening detection, and a method of arranging a Hall sensor in a display terminal are provided. A display terminal includes a first body, and a Hall sensor disposed in the first body, the Hall sensor including a magnetic field sensing surface configured to sense a magnetic field, in which the magnetic field sensing surface is disposed at a slope with respect to an front surface of the first body.
