Abstract: A method for manufacturing a stamped part, such as a bipolar plate for a fuel cell, includes the steps of: providing an original model of the bipolar plate; and performing a compensation process on the original model, the compensation process including a two step morphing process based upon a prediction of spring back. The two step morphing process provides a compensated model of the stamped part. A compensated die face may be created based on the compensated model of the stamped part. The stamped part manufactured with the compensated die face has spring back compensation.

Abstract: A rolling mill coil-forming apparatus includes a rotating quill that discharges elongated material into an elongated path hollow structure, such as a laying head pipe. The elongated structure is constructed of combinations of ferrous and non-ferrous dissimilar materials. Generally, non-ferrous materials are used in zones that are subject to relatively higher wear. A portion of the elongated path structure can be formed from nested, enveloping layers and/or by joining segments in axial abutting relationship. Components formed from nested layers can be constructed in many three dimensional compound curve shapes that can replicate the smooth, continuous curve elongated material transport path laying head pipes, with localized symmetrical or asymmetrical cross sections.

Abstract: Cutting elements, earth-boring drill bits having such cutting elements and related methods are described herein. In some embodiments, a cutting element for an earth-boring tool may include a superabrasive table having a recessed surface in a cutting face thereof and a shaped feature in a substrate at the interface between the superabrasive table and the substrate, the shaped feature corresponding to the recessed surface in the cutting face of the superabrasive table. In further embodiments, a cutting element for an earth-boring tool may comprise a superabrasive table positioned on a substrate, and at least one substantially planar recessed surface in a cutting face of the superabrasive table. In yet additional embodiments, a cutting element for an earth-boring tool may comprise a superabrasive table positioned on a substrate, and at least one non-planar recessed surface in a cutting face of the superabrasive table.

Abstract: A micromachined gyroscope is disclosed comprising a substrate, three masses m1, m2, and m3, configured to oscillate along a first direction x or y, whereby the first mass m1 is mechanically coupled to the substrate, the second mass m2 is mechanically coupled to the first mass m1 and to substrate, and the third mass m3 is mechanically coupled to the second mass m2, whereby the weight and the spring constants k1, k2, k3 of the respective masses m1, m2, and m3 and mechanical couplings k12, k23 are selected, such that, during operation mass m2 oscillates at a frequency substantially above the resonance frequencies of mass m1 and mass m3. The resonance frequency of mass m2 may be at least 2 times, or even 2.5 times, higher than the resonance frequency of mass m1 or m3.
